Team i6 Takes on Delilah is One Month Old

Wow.  How has it been a month already?  That is just bananas!

Delilah is still a little night owl and does not quite have a "schedule" down like her brother did by this time...but then again everything pretty much only revolved around him back then so that made it easier right off the bat.  We are easing into getting down a rhythm.

My main struggle right now is all about getting everyone rolling out of the house on time.  It's a process, right now I am lucky if I get Delilah fed, Linc dressed and fed, and the three of us out the door by 8:45/9am.  Yeah um I need to have that down to 7:30am in T-6 weeks (or something like that), so I've got my work cut out for me. :-P

D is a sweetheart though, she is so happy and snuggely with me during the days.  I am just loving every minute of maternity leave and it is going by so quickly!

Here are her 1 month stats:

Height: 21 inches
Weight: 7 pounds 13 oz
Head Circumference: 14 inches

Team i6 Takes on Party Down for Purim

This weekend was Purim, a Jewish holiday from the Book of Esther, we made hamantashens Saturday night.

And went to the Purim carnival  at our temple for a bit in the afternoon on Sunday.  At Purim kids and adults dress up in costumes, similar to halloween, and it is one big party.  We asked Linc what he wanted to be (I thought for sure he'd say pirate or firefighter, but nope) and he told us he wanted to be a king.  Perfect, we actually had a great king crown and he has a red superhero cape that we could make work for the occasion.  We had a little craft time to make a crest to go on the back of the cape to cover up the superhero logo and make it a bit more king-like.  It worked out great and he looked super cute.

It also gave me an excuse to have Delilah wear her princess crown out in public again. ;-)

After the carnival we had dinner at our friends Kenny & Brittany's house.  It was so nice to get out and visit with them and they were lovely hosts.  Linc was super excited to see and play with their kitty Bert. They were good pals by the end of the night, Bert even shared his bed with Lincoln, lol.

Anyway we had a great time and man did the kid and the cat wear each other out, Linc slept until like 9am the next day!

Team i6 Takes on a Day at the Museum

We have a book called "Goodnight Washington DC" and Lincoln loves to read it every night before bed.  He has favorite pages that he always points out and he has started to ask to go to some of the DC places in the book.

He has taken a particular interest in the page that highlights the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum.  So we started telling him that he could earn a trip to the museum by earning dinosaur stickers to go on a chart and after he earned 14 stickers we would take him.  He could earn the stickers by going to and leaving school without any tantrums (and thus making drop-offs and pick-ups much easier on Mommy & Daddy).  The timing of the sticker earning rate also coincided with a teacher service day at his school and we needed to figure out something fun to do that day anyway with Lincoln so it was a perfect opportunity to head into the city on a hopefully not too busy day.  Well he earned his stickers like a champ and off to the city we went...all FOUR of us!

Linc had a great time and loved exploring!  Lilah pretty much slept the whole time with the exception of the 30 minutes she woke up to eat, but she was perfectly well behaved and I think she liked her first DC cultural outing.

Here are some pictures from the adventure.

Oh and as an added bonus we got to see Marine One (and the other identical one, you can read why there are two or more here in case you are curious) flying across the city sky as were were leaving.  Lincoln was super excited to see the President's helicopter flying by...who knows if he is was in it or not but it was still cool to see and a great end to our little trip.  You can sort of see them both in the pic below, the second one is the larger dot on the right.

Team i6 Takes on Happy Valen-times Day

Well, that's what Lincoln calls it...Valen-times Day. :-)

Linc made us a lovely card at school that he was excited to give us when he got home.

He was also super excited to get all of his Valentine swag that was waiting for him on the kitchen table when he walked through the door.

Team i6 Takes on Our New Normal

Ok so Delilah is here, we are home, the Grandmas are gone, Linc is back at daycare...now what?

It is so different having a baby this time around, I mean some parts are easier because we kinda know what to expect, but lots of parts are new/different because well we haven't done this with a girl before.  Let me say this, we are NOT pros at changing girl diapers, like at all.  We are going through like 5Xs the outfits that we did with Lincoln and I didn't know what was possible!  We are doing a lot of laundry.  I am hoping we get the hang of things soon, or we need to buy some more sleepers asap.

We have given a few sponge baths and are getting the hang of those again.  Lilah is not a fan.  ;-)

She is a fan of her swing.  She digs hanging out in there while Mommy makes some meals.

She also really likes the bouncer that Auntie Cyndi let us borrow.  That is where she chills while Mommy showers or works on the never ending pile of laundry.

We got a few lovely surprise deliveries that made our days.  A lovely gift basket from our friends the Nguyen's addressed to Linc and Delilah.  It had a little something for everyone, I may have called dibs on the chocolate.  And we got some beautiful flowers from my work, they were so bright and colorful!

We had a second weight check with the pediatrician for Delilah.  She is continuing to gain but still not quite to birth weight so we are trying to up her feedings a little bit to make up the rest of the weight before the next appt.  She is still doing great though and they are not overly concerned or asking us to supplement yet so that is great news.  They also said we could start tummy time so we have done a few sessions and had some playtime after on the playmat.

And because per usual there are no pictures of me in the post...here is one of me and Delilah just for good measure.

Team i6 Takes on The Grandma Invasion

The Grandmas were here and they left their marks with plenty of presents and sufficient spoiling!  They each had lots of cuddle time with baby Delilah which allowed for some nap time for me and Todd.  I am not gonna sugar coat things Delilah is definitely a night owl compared to big brother as a baby so its been a little more rough this time around...plus adding in a 3yr old to entertain as well!  But I digress...

Linc got lots of train playing time in with Grammy Sparks and Grandma Isaacs made is most favorite matzo ball soup.  We mostly all stayed in but there were a few outings.  One where the G-mas, Todd, & Linc hit up Tot Shabbat and then one day where we all made our way to Leesburg for Delilah's newborn photo shoot.  The G-mas did a great job keeping Linc entertained for the 2+hrs that we were in the Little Moon studio getting some awesome pictures (pics to come).

And we had one other outing where the G-mas watched Linc while we took Delilah to her one week check-up!  The Dr. said she was doing great and had already gained back a few ounces from what she lost by the time we had gotten discharged from the hospital.  We still have some work to do there to make sure we get her back to birth weight and keep on gaining!  But we are keeping at it, and baby girl loves to nurse & eat.  She also does well at taking a bottle with breast-milk so it gives Mommy a little bit of a break too!  Big brother loves to help give her a bottle, well for a few minutes anyway until he gets bored and wants to go play instead.
