Week 7

Linc the Frequent Flier
How old? 1 Month 18 days
Total weight gain/loss: 9lbs
Baby clothes? Starting to fillout more and can kindof fit into some 3mo outfits now, mostly sleepers.
Sleep: He has slept really well here in Indiana, though he has come down with a case of the sniffles so he slept on my chest a good amount last night. He slept great, me not so much.
Best moment this week: Visiting with everyone here in Indiana. We got to take Lincoln into Chore Time and have him meet everyone there. We were able to hang out with Becky & adorable little Alice. We saw Tina, Wendy, and cute little ball of energy Carter & had dinner from Californa Desert and visited. And then we metup with Cheryl & Alisha at Courthouse Coffee and caught up and had yummy coffee (Jury Duty, my favorite!), and had a visit from Seth! Whew...and the trip is not over yet, lots more people to see!
Worst moment this week: Can't complain about anything this week, things have gone really well. I am a little concerned about Linc's little sniffles so hopefully they will not get any worse.
Movement: He has got some strong legs, he's been kicking and flexing alot lately.
What I am looking forward to: Seeing more of our friends & family Saturday!
Milestones: Your baby's brain is expanding in size and complexity. It will grow about 5 centimeters during the first three months.
You may notice short periods of time when your newborn is quiet and alert. This is prime time for learning. Use these calm intervals to get better acquainted with your baby — talk to him, sing to him, describe the pictures on the walls. He may not be able to add to your conversation just yet, but he's learning nonetheless.
New textures for his hands to feel and new sights and sounds (all in moderation) are all learning opportunities. Even bath time becomes a laboratory for understanding the world around his.

Week 6

Our Little Baby Bear

And this is how Linc feels about bath time...not a huge fan.

How old?
1 Month 11 days
Total weight gain/loss: Linc: 9lbs,
Baby clothes? No change here...well except for some days we go through like 3 outfits a day, he can be a messy messy boy! Makes for lots of laundry...
Sleep: Again no real change here, though I think we messed up his routine a little bit this past weekend, and we will likely do so again next week when we are in Indiana!
Best moment this week: The Isaacs Grandparents were in for a visit this past weekend! We had lots of time to hangout and visit, we made a trip with Linc to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum at Dulles. While we were at SASM we got stopped by every 5 person to tell us how cute and well behaved our little Lincoln is!
And then the Grandparents offered to watch Linc so that Todd and I could go out and celebrate Valentine's Day (one day early, Saturday) which was also 6 years since Todd proposed to me. We went on what Todd likes to call a high-schoolesque date, we went to a movie, Valentine's Day *very cute movie*, and then dinner at Mon Ami
Gabi.
Worst moment this week: Having to think about the Daycare situation...had to go revisit the KinderCares near us and make a decision on which one Linc will attend until he gets into one of the two Daycares we are on the waiting list for. It is amazing how different two places owned by the same company but run independently can be! But we did find one we like, but I am just not ready to leave him and go back to work yet, good thing I have a few more weeks!
Movement: He is moving a lot more on his tummy time mat, he usually ends up rolling off the bolster that we put under him that came with the mat. The way he moves all around already I think we may have an early crawler, but we'll see.
What I am looking forward to: Heading back to Indiana for a visit soon...oh and some John Wongs and Courthouse Coffee!
Milestones:
Has your baby smiled at you yet? If not, he will soon. At 6 weeks, about half of all babies can recognize their parents, and many of those babies are so delighted that they welcome Mom or Dad with an excited, gurgly grin. This is one of the first signs that your baby is developing an ability to socialize. In fact, it's called a "social smile," and it's one of the more emotionally gratifying milestones you'll see your baby reach.

Week 5

Hey Ladies...
Happy Valentine's Day

How old? 1 Month 4 days
Total weight gain/loss: Linc: 8.8lbs, Mommy: 4lbs more to loose before making it back to pre-baby weight.
Baby clothes? For as much as he eats I would think he would be in 0-3 month clothes by now, but we are close.
Sleep: He is such a great sleeper! And he is so cuddly during the day! He just loves to snuggle and take little naps with his mommy during the day. SO cute!
Best moment this week: Well since we were snowed in pretty much all week it was nice for Todd be able to have so much baby bonding time with Lincoln, which left me some time to shower, nap, feel like a real person again...oh and get some laundry done.
I also was able to get about half of our birth announcements put together and mailed out, now I just need to do the other 40 or so.
Worst moment this week: Ummm being buried under like 30 inches of snow! Up until yesterday I think it had been at least 10+ days straight that I had not left the house, like at all. Todd, Linc, and I were finally able to get out and make it to the mall to just walk around a little bit yesterday, it was SO nice to just get out of the house!
Movement: Linc is turning his head more, and he loves to watch the mobile above his swing. He is also starting to make more funny faces at us, I think we are getting close to him smiling at us (and not just because he is going #2)!
What I am looking forward to: Heading back to Indiana for a visit soon...
Milestones:
Smiling is universal. A baby's first smile happens at about the same time in all cultures, so get ready for your baby to reward all your loving care with a beaming, toothless, just-for-you grin. This will probably make your heart melt, even if you've just had your worst night yet.

Week 4

How old? 28 days
Total weight gain/loss: 8.4lbs
Baby clothes? Sill NB but he is definitely growing because there is one NB outfit that he no longer fits into as it is too short! How funny will it be if he ends up being 6ft tall, no more step stools for me! ;-)
Sleep: For the most part we are all sleeping well. He is a GREAT napper during the day, he loves to cuddle on my chest and we nap on the couch together.
Best moment this week: Meeting up with our good friend Michael and having dinner out at Sweetwater Tavern and taking Linc along, he was a good boy almost the whole dinner we only had one outburst but then he took his pacifier and quickly went back to sleep. Oh and after dinner we went and got my favorite flavor of custard from Milwaukee Frozen Custard, Grasshopper, and it was just as good as I remembered!
Movement: Lincoln is starting to do tummy time 15 minutes a day, he does not always like it but he does it.
What I am looking forward to: Getting snowed in, just kidding. But we are expecting about 20-30 inches between today and Saturday evening...so far we have about 5 and it is still coming down.

Milestones: Lincoln may gurgle, coo, grunt, and hum to express his feelings. A few babies also begin squealing and laughing. I coo and gurgle back, and talk to Linc face to face. He enjoys holding my gaze now.
When I have things to do, Linc enjoys hearing my voice from across the room. He is particularly attuned to this high-pitched, drawn-out way of communicating, which can actually teach him about the structure and function of language.

Best Souvenir Ever

Linc would like to thank his Uncle Matt & Aunt Cyndi for bringing him back this great conical hat from their Vietnam travels.
