Weeks 2 & 3

And we're back after a short break... Things have quieted down since family has come and gone, the Bris has taken place, and Todd has gone back to work. It is now just me, Linc, and the pups during the days. Things are going pretty good so far, but it is definitely a huge adjustment taking care of a baby all day - I do love it though. I am sure I am luckier than I even know, but he is such a good baby! He sleeps 5 to 6 hours uninterrupted at night and is so pleasant and bright eyed when he is awake and rarely cries or gets too fussy except for when he is hungry or needs a diaper change. As I am writing this he is just chillin' in his swing looking out the window checking out the world. How old? 21 days
Total weight gain/loss: At Lincoln's last Dr. appointment he had gained back to his birth weight and then some...7lbs 8oz. And judging by his eating schedule he's got to be beyond that now.
Baby clothes? Linc is still wearing Newborn sized clothes. Grandma Isaacs even had to go out a purchase a few more NB sized outfits because we only had like two to begin with since the Dr.'s were measuring him at 8+lbs. And I think he went through those in about two hours after we were home since we were clearly rookies at the changing diapers thing and he peed and pooped on them within the first few changes. Please note we have gotten much better at changing him now, though bath time is a completely different story...
Even though he is growing I cannot get over how tiny he is. I love his teeny little outfits they are so cute, I'll be a little sad when he moves up to 0-3mo size stuff.
Sleep: He is pretty much a dream at night...finishes eating his "evening snack" around 10:30/11pm then sleeps until 5:30am. Then Todd gets up and changes his diaper and I feed him while Todd gets ready for work. Todd leaves and we go back to bed for about an hour and then we get up and head down to the main level for the day.
Best moment this week: So this will cover the last two weeks.
Having Amber from Little Moon Photography come and photograph Linc with a few family photos thrown in too. She is such an artist, her work is amazing, we were SO pleased!
And definitely having family in town for the Bris and all of our friends that were able to attend the event too.
And surviving my first few weeks alone!
Movement: Linc is very strong, all his Doctors say so. He is pretty squirmy and when he is on his tummy on our chests or on his tummy time mat he lifts his head up already!
What I am looking forward to: Getting out of the house more with Lincoln. So far we made a trip to a Dr appointment for his hearing test and then to my Dr for a check-up to see how I'm healing - I am good, just warned not too push it too much too soon. And then a couple days later I made a trip with him to my office building so everyone there could see my cute little man! Of course everyone loved him! :-)
And can't wait for Matt and Cyndi to get home from their trip, miss them a bunch, can't wait to hear all about their adventures in East Asia.
Milestones: Every baby has a unique temperament. Some are placid and agreeable, while others are more sensitive. One thing all babies have in common is that they communicate by crying. Sometime in the first month, I'll begin to hear another kind of sound. That's when most babies find their voices. When Linc is calm and alert, I may notice he says a little "ooh" or "aah" when he sees me or hears me approaching.

Week 1

So little Lincoln is now one week old, I just can't believe it! I will be trying to keep this blog updated as best I can so everyone can see how we are doing. This week is obviously a little hectic so the real updates will begin a little later.

We did have a photo session with Little Moon Photography today so those pics will be coming soon! Yay!

40 weeks: Gettin' pregnant was easy...gettin' unpregnant not so much.

How far along? 40 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: does it matter at this point...I feel huge.
Maternity clothes? Um when I have even gotten dressed, yes.
Sleep: Would love to get some.
Best moment this week: Hasn't happened yet.
Worst moment this week: A call to the Doctor, a trip to the hospital, and then a trip back home. Everything is fine, Mr. Bun is just not ready to make his entrance yet, more disappointing than anything.
Food cravings: Banana Pudding! YUM!
Movement: As much as he can still...not much room left in there.
Gender: Team Blue
Labor Signs: Definitely experiencing contractions off and on, now if only my cervix will cooperate. =(
Belly button in or out? Inish.
What I am looking forward to: Set to induce Jan 7th if nothing happens before then, wish us luck!
Milestones: It's hard to say for sure how big Mr. Bun will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason his noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

The Waiting Game...Part Two (Todd Post)

So 2009 has come and gone, much as I thought it would. With the world in a state of unrest, I knew the bun was going to wait until the blank slate of 2010.
We are excited to meet the little guy and have been getting a lot of advice on how to induce.
Prenatal Massage: Tried, Failed
Hot/Spicy Foods: Tried, Failed
Walking the Stairs: Tried, Failed
Nesting: Tried, Failed
Loud, Suspenseful Movie: Tried, Failed

We haven't given up yet and will continue to try these and other methods right up until the induction date. We haven't visited the hospital yet, but we had a couple of close calls. We were pretty sure that late evening on Jan 1st it was time. I even ran around and packed a few last minute things for the hospital bags. It turned out to be just sporadic contractions and Stacie not feeling well. Then today (Jan 3rd) we thought that it was time. But as it turns out, she was not leaking amniotic fluid (just typical late term pregnancy symptoms).

While we're waiting for this egg to hatch, we have been packing a few months worth of going out into a few weeks. We have been grabbing dinner out with friends, seeing movies, and may even make it downtown this coming week to see a museum or two. I am done with work until at least mid-January so it's nice to have a few days to relax with Stacie before things get hectic.
