Weight: 23 lbs
Sleep: This week has been a super great sleep week! The cio method seemed to work for us. Lincoln went to bed most nights this week no later than 7:15pm and slept through the night - maybe one night he woke up for a few minutes fussed and then went back to bed on his own - and then he slept in to 7-7:30am every single day!
He even took an awesome 2 hour nap this morning while Todd & I cleaned and relaxed & another 1 hour nap this afternoon (where Mommy & Daddy got to grab a 30min nap too)!
Food: We have been getting more brave about giving Lincoln bites of our food, especially since he's been eating more school lunches. They are quite a bit more adventurous in the food department than us, and given the fact that they've raised thousands of perfectly healthy little babies and Linc has had no allergic reactions (furiously knocking on wood) we think it is great. Also adventurous means meals such as grilled cheese and tomato soup and meatloaf, nothing crazy like oysters on the half shell or chicken peanut satay.
Anywho, we gave him a few bites of Todd's buffalo burger from Gordon Biersch Saturday - no garlic fries though, we're not crazy! ;-) And another night he had cheese quesadilla & sauteed zucchini while Mommy & Daddy had fajitas.
Best Moment This Week: We had a fun time traveling into DC to go to The Spy Museum Saturday afternoon. We got up had breakfast, played a little, put Linc down for a nap and as soon as he was up around 11am we were off for a city adventure! We took the metro and got in around lunch time and initially were were planning on eating at Zola (so Linc could have his first fine dinning experience) but after finding out they were not open for lunch on the weekend we had to go with plan B eating at one of our faves Gordon Biersch Brewery. After that we perused the DC Downtown Holiday Market which is always lovely. And then it was time for the main event of The Spy Museum. Side note there are no strollers allowed at this particular museum but if you give them your drivers license they will give you what they call a baby backpack which is a poor man's baby bjorn - it did the trick - also they do not allow you to take pictures (LAME). We had a great time picking out our cover identities, learning our backstory, and accepting our missions. The museum is a must do at least once if you are ever in the area!
Lincoln got his first birthday card & present in the mail this week! Thank you CBR (the cord blood bank that we decided to bank Linc's cord blood with, yeah they know where their belly buttons are buttered)!
And lastly we traded in almost a years worth of Pampers Gifts to Grow points - point codes that are on all Pampers products that can be collected in your online account and cashed in for various rewards. In case your interested this is what a years worth of diapers can buy you:
Slightly sad to think this is all those thousands of diapers gets you but at least we got something other than just larger loads of garbage out of it. ;-)
Worst Moment of the Week: We are all battling slight colds/runny noses, so that's fun. And that means lots of playing inside.
And I'll leave you with a pictures of our basement today after Todd and Lincoln were playing in the ball pit...
Mom, We Need More Toys
What We're Looking Forward To: No change from last week.
Alderson babies coming home when they get the all clear from the NICU. Celebrating the New Year! Linc's first Birthday! Grammy Sparks coming for a visit, and Grandma & Grandpa Isaacs coming the week after for a visit.
Movement: Mutual confirmation of Lincoln's first steps, he has taken several unassisted, unprompted steps! We have yet to catch them on camera but we will at some point this weekend I am sure.
Milestones: If your baby isn't walking already, he's likely to take his first independent steps soon. (If not, don't worry. Some perfectly normal babies are 17 or 18 months old before they start walking.)
You can encourage your baby to walk by standing or kneeling in front of him and holding out your hands. Or hold both his hands and walk him toward you. If he's like most children, your baby will take those early strides with his arms out to the side (for balance) and bent at the elbows, his feet turned outward, and belly out in front while his bottom sticks out behind (also for balance).
As always, make sure your baby has a safe environment in which to practice his new skills. Follow standard childproofing guidelines and never leave your baby unattended. And keep the camera ready!
