54 Weeks

Our Little Monkey Man

How old? 12 Months 13 days
Weight: 22 lbs  12oz
Sleep: What happened to my super sleeper?!?!  We have not had a good week for sleep.  For some reason Linc has been waking up scream-crying anywhere between 1hr-3hrs after we have put him to bed.  Not typical to say the least.  He is not sick, has no fever, not wet/poopie, not pulling at his ears...not hungry.  We have no idea what the problem is or why he is waking up in the first place, bad dreams maybe?  Each night has gotten a little bit better in the amount of time that he cries before eventually tiring himself out and falling back to sleep, but it is so heartbreaking!  I was telling Todd, this is just him crying, can you imagine when he starts calling out for us by name. 
But this is just a phase...right? 

Food: Well, Linc got his second taste of cake at his party and while he started out slow, eventually he was all about it as evidence I submit for your viewing pleasure a picture taken by Aunt Cyndi!
Lincoln also got to have his first meal off of the kids menu from a restaurant, a chicken quesadilla from La Sandia.  YUM! 
He is attempting to eat more and more with utensils and sometimes it is good and sometimes it goes like this:

Best Moment This Week: So Many!  Lincoln had an awesome Birthday Party, as you can see from the post below!   So awesome that henceforth there has been a moratorium on toy purchases at the Casa de Isaacs, seriously our basement cannot handle anymore it is filled to the brim!  Lincoln is a very lucky little boy and we will make sure that he knows that.  And because it can't be said enough, we are very grateful for all the super fun stuff that Linc will have to learn from & play with for the next 12 months. 
Uncle Andy & Aunt Taryn have asked Lincoln to be a ring bearer in their wedding in May, ya know as long has Linc can handle walking from point A to point B by then...we'll be working on that.  Can you imagine the cuteness of Lincoln in a little tux?...squeeeee, so cute!
And lastly, as I have said before Linc's new room at daycare does lots of fun stuff with the babies, they sing & dance, and do art projects.   Well, we got the first masterpiece of the series Thursday!  Our little budding artiste, I mean really look at the depth in his works...it's amazing.

Inspired by the environment Lincoln prefers to work with food based paint and recycled paper, while using oranges as his medium.  Keepin' it green, man.

Oh and since we're here I would just like to complain that when I went to pick my child up from daycare Wednesday night, he did not want to leave with me, he cried because he wanted to stay and play with his friends.  sniffle.  Though really in all seriousness I do feel happy that Lincoln likes his daycare as much as we do, but really kid, really?  Why you gotta do me like that?   ;-)  I suppose the bright side is that it takes away a little bit of the Mommy guilt that I have about not being a stay at home mom - they are much more enriching and entertaining than I would probably be. 

What We're Looking Forward To: QUIET!  (Love the fam, but glad you're all gone)
Perhaps some more baby holding this weekend.  Can't get enough of those sweet things!  If all goes well we may try LTZ photo session take deux.
There is a Purim Party in our future...possibly two.  One at our temple and one through a local group Growing Jewish Families in NOVA at the Barnes & Noble in Tysons.  Mmmm hamantaschen!
Movement:  Lots of walking/stumbling.  Oh and Linc has gotten really into shaking his thang...he loves to dance and groove.  It is seriously adorable!
We are going to be starting a JW Tumbles class soon, so that will be lots of fun for Lincoln.

He is also exploring more of our main level, crawling all around - thank goodness we installed more baby gates and cabinet locks!  But I did let him play around in the pots & pans cupboard while I made dinner two nights ago, he seamed to have a grand old time. 

Milestones:  Time to add a new appointment to your child's schedule: a first visit to the dentist. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommend that you establish a "dental home" for your child around this age. They point out that about 40 percent of children have tooth decay by age 5, and that the rate of tooth decay in baby teeth has not declined as it has in permanent teeth over the last 30 years.



This first visit offers a baseline look at your child's mouth and reveals any problems that your child's doctor may have missed. It also gives the dentist an opportunity to offer pointers on caring for your toddler's budding teeth, preventing cavities, and ensuring the right intake of fluoride. You can stick with your own dentist or choose a pediatric dentist – a specialist with a child-friendly office who's an ace at keeping young children comfortable and relaxed.

At home, continue cleaning your toddler's teeth. You don't really need to use a toothbrush until the second molars (the ones farthest back) come in, typically between 20 and 30 months. Until then, simply wipe the teeth clean before bedtime using wet gauze or a washcloth and water. (To distract your child while you do the job, try giving her a toothbrush to hold.)

You don't even need toothpaste. You can use a fluoride-free baby toothpaste if you like, but don't add fluoridated toothpaste to the routine until at least age 2.
