60 Weeks

How old? 13 Months 24 days
Weight: 23 lbs  8oz
Sleep: Ugg those molars (all 4 are coming in at the same time) are up to their old tricks again this week!  For the past three nights we've been up at around midnight.  We usually see if he'll cry it out, but when that fails we check out the situation.  We have been keeping a sippy of water on his bookshelf and we offer that to him and rock him a bit.  Sometimes if we can tell his teeth are really bothering him we give him some tylenol or ibuprofen depending on the level of discomfort he seems to be in.  Other than that he is going to bed easier than ever and is just the right amount of snuggly at bed time.  We got a new nightlight shaped like a little guy for Lincoln a few weeks ago and we have been trying to incorporate it into the bed time routine.  So after Linc gets in his pjs I go sit in the glider and Daddy takes Linc to go turn on the nightlight and turn off the overhead light switch, and say night night, then I get the handoff and we snuggle and rock a little and then I put Linc in his crib.  Well last night Linc learned how to give good night kisses, it is the cutest thing ever.
Food: He is loving mashed potatoes right now.  He likes to eat them with his hands and attempted to put them on a spoon and eat them himself.  Though last night we did have a moment of frustration & flailing where a handful of potatoes may have flown off of said spoon and 1/3 landed on Guinness much to Alex's delight, 1/3 went in Linc's face, and the last 1/3 ended up plastered to the kitchen window!
We are officially all sippy all the time.  No more bottles for this big boy!
And a fun new game we like to play is lets share with the puppies...exhibit A:

Word List:  Mama, Dada, Daa-dee, nana (banana), uhoh, bye bye, touchdown, all done, book
**Lincoln is started signing the word "more".  He had sort of been mimicking us when we'd do it, but mostly we would have to take his hands and show him how to do it.  This morning we were having breakfast and Todd gave him some of his plain multigrain waffle and when Lincoln finished he looked at him and signed "more"!  So Todd gave him more and when he finished he did it again!  It is so AWESOME when stuff like that pays off...Go Team i6!
Best Moment This Week: Saturday was Boy's Day.  Daddy played video games & hung out with Uncle Gil.  Eventually when Linc woke up from his afternoon nap he too got in on the action as the boys let him do vocals on their sold out tour of Band Hero for the Wii.  I wish SO badly I had some of that recorded to play for you.
Sunday Funday!  We got ourselves to Linc's Gymboree class, which he is still totally digging, he played & climbed, and managed not to run too many kids down.  Afterward we headed down the Springfield to meet up with Kenny & Brittany for a tasty mimosa brunch.  Ahhh mimosas they are so fantastic, I think we should have them every morning with breakfast, yes?  Anyway we had a nice visit, Linc behaved & charmed the waitress, and we all left with very full tummies!
The weather was delightful here on Sunday, so once we got back and Linc had a little bit of a rest we got invited to go for a walk around the neighborhood with the Alderson's.  What a sight our not so little group was: Me + Linc in his stroller, Todd, Matt & Meigs, and Cindy w/ T & Z in the double stroller...we joked that we should have taken Guinness & Alex too, but really that would have been a circus!
Tuesday we celebrated the Alderson's Anniversary with some sangria, YUM!  Happy 3 years you crazy kids!

Thursday Lincoln & I got home and he helped me check the mail and much to my surprise we had some boxes from Amazon.  Well...Lincoln had some boxes.  We got inside and Linc kept taking the boxes and picking them up and shaking them and stacking them and pushing them all over the basement.  Turns out Uncle Gil got Lincoln some educational Baby Einstein dvds, they are awesome and now Linc is reading at a third grade level. :-)

Worst Moment This Week:  Does just thinking about getting our taxes done count?  Not that we think it will be bad it is just finding the time that is more stressful.
Oh and at somepoint this week I have completely lost track of what the date actually is and have my days all messed up, I thought tomorrow (Saturday) was the 6th and that has just thrown me totally off.  Uggg I feel like I am going crazy today!
What We're Looking Forward To: Tot Shabbat for this month, Saturday morning with Ms. Nell!
Linc's daycare's Silent Auction & Dinner.
Nicer weather so that we can take Linc outside more to play & go for walks.
Movement: Todd and I both had a moment this past weekend where we looked at each other and Todd was like...umm, when did Lincoln just completely stop crawling to get to where he wanted to go?  Yeah, he is walking everywhere now, that crawling stuff is for babies...
Milestones: ::Knock on wood:: we do not seem to be having any issues with this weeks Baby Center milestones.  Lincoln does not really have any separation anxiety, he is a happy happy baby loves his daycare & his friends and has no problems what so ever saying peace out to Mommy & Daddy in the mornings at drop off!  And he plays quietly alone in his crib at night before bed and in the mornings before we get down there to get him dressed and ready.
Painful partings:  At 13 months, many toddlers have full-blown separation anxiety. Yours may become upset when you leave her, even with friends or family members she sees relatively often. The intensity of her attachment to you is hard to resist – and she'll probably never be as unquestioningly devoted to you again.
On the other hand, kids this age can be very, very clingy and you may find yourself wishing your childless focused on you. There's nothing more guilt inducing than leaving your crying child with someone else when she wants only you. Five minutes after you leave, though, your little one's likely to have dried her tears and be perfectly happy.
Be as patient as you can during this tender time. Like all normal phases, it will pass. Separation anxiety typically peaks between 10 and 18 months and then gradually fades away.
How to introduce solo play

It'll probably be quite a while before your child learns to entertain herself for an extended period (although some kids can do so now). You can start the learning process by encouraging her to play without your direct involvement occasionally.
Try showing your toddler how to play with a particular toy, then turning away for the few minutes that she may be absorbed with it. This helps teach her that she doesn't need your interaction or direction every second.
When she becomes restless or asks for your help, turn back to her and reengage her or introduce a new activity. Small increments of solo play help build confidence, too.
