Sleep: I knew that last week would come back to bite me...this week has been a little rocky. We've at a night or two mostly over the weekend that Linc was up in the wee hours for a little bit but he was easily rocked back to sleep after a cup of water.
Food: Lincoln has enjoyed a wide array of dining establishments since Grandpa & Grandma I. have been in town, he loved his cheese burger, apple sauce, & blueberry cobbler ice cream from Clydes - he even tried a bite of Mommy's crab cake.

Best Moment This Week: Saturday Linc was up for swimming lessons so I went in the pool with him this week. Everything was great except for the last 5min...the pool was evacuated due to an "accident"! The best part is it was an adult who had swam too many laps and got sick, it wasn't any of the 30+ kiddos at the shallow end of the pool.
We checked out Reston Festival, you know, played some drums, drove a Humvee, the usual Saturday at the Reston Town Center & then we had dinner at Clydes.
After we took a walk down to the fountain where Lincoln had a great time showing Grandpa & Grandma how he can run through the water and hyper speed.
Sunday we went grill shopping and Todd found the perfect grill at Lowes but they only had the floor model, but then we hit up Home Depot and they had an even better grill there and all they had available was the floor model there too. Apparently grills were a popular item this past week... Well Todd put his bargaining hat on and asked them what kind of deal they could make on the next model up. Long story short we have a really fantastic new grill with all the bells and whistles, thank you David & Barb!!!
We made a trip out to one of the local wineries, Notaviva, for a tasting and enjoyed a bottle of wine out on their porch and sat in rocking chairs.
Linc and I went to a weekday Gymboree class on Thursday since he was home from daycare - more on that below. It was fun but I think he was a little weirded out by different teacher and kids.
Worst Moment This Week: Linc has had a bit of a bug in his system this week and has spent a majority of it at home. The kicker is he was acting just fine, better than fine - he had SO much energy! I think part of this might be due to teething because he has been chewing on his hands and his Sophie constantly, you can definitely see one on the bottom left coming through.
What We're Looking Forward To:
The Dickman/Adams Wedding coming up in August
A trip back to Indiana
Movement: I scored a great deal (again thanks to Todd's superior negotiation skills) on a kettler push trike on craigslist and Lincoln is LOVING it. I thought it might be just a bit too soon for him to have a tricycle, but a push trike is perfect.
Milestones: Wanting to be carried; The thrill of learning to walk and run may have launched your toddler into perpetual motion. He just doesn't want to stop – especially to do something as unexciting as sleep! Then again, sometimes a child perfectly capable of walking on his own two feet wants to be carried. A lot.
Consider the circumstances. In public, your child may feel small and vulnerable or fear being lost. He may truly be tired. He may crave attention or affection. Carry his if you want to, but if you're going more than a block or two from home or the car, bring a stroller to save your back.
Your child might be coaxed into walking just by holding your hand, which could make him feel more secure. Negotiate a little: "Let's walk holding hands until the next stoplight."
Sun safetySunburns early in life are the most likely to cause skin cancer later – and all sun exposure damages and ages the skin – so protect your child's skin outdoors, whatever the weather. Use sunscreen, cover up with lightweight clothing, wear a hat and sunglasses, and stay in the shade as much as possible.
For sunscreen, choose one with SPF 30 or higher that provides broad-spectrum coverage against UVA and UVB rays (check the label to be sure). Some experts recommend a "physical block" or "chemical-free" sunscreen made with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide because it offers broad-spectrum coverage, is not absorbed by the skin, and provides protection as soon as you put it on. If you use a chemical sunscreen, which works best once it's absorbed by the skin, apply it 30 minutes before going out to get the full effect.
Reapply sunscreen every couple of hours (no matter what the label says) when you're outside and anytime your child comes out of the water.
