Lincoln's class is doing a unit on different countries and his teacher asked us if we had a country that we would like covered. She said one little girl's mom was going to come in and talk about India, and another to do China, and so we decided to ask them to cover Israel. It was a little tricky because we could only cover cultural things and keep it non religious, but we came up with a great project on shofars. Todd brought in his shofar from Israel and talked to the kids about it and blew it for them. Then they each got to color their own precut shofar that the next day Miss Cathy laminated and rolled up to make little horns for them to blow.
Lincoln also got to wear his cool shirt with the Hebrew alphabet from Israel that Grandpa & Grandma got for him before he was even born! He grew into it at the perfect time!
In this unit they are also learning all about North America and the United States. They are making all sorts of art with flags and other cool cultural stuff. Here is L's traced USA...and of course it is brown. And also note the penmanship of the A, writes like his Daddy. ;-P
